Hand Cream K-Beauty Trend: Lip Balm and Body Lotion Climb as Korea Cools
The hand cream K-beauty trend is a seasonal one, and the data caught it as of October 26, 2026. Korean shoppers are clicking on hand cream (핸드크림), lip balm (립밤) and body lotion (바디로션) at about two to two and a half times their July level. I pulled 16 weeks of click data from Naver Shopping Insight, the trend tool for Korea’s biggest shopping search, and compared 49 beauty keywords. Last week the story was ceramide and panthenol. This week the climb moved from the face to the hands, lips and body.
A quick note on the numbers. Naver does not share raw search counts, only relative clicks. So I compare each keyword only with its own past. The baseline is the average of July 6 to August 2, 2026. “Now” means the last four full weeks, September 28 to October 25.
K-beauty trends at a glance
A value of 2.6x means clicks in the last four weeks were about two and a half times the July baseline. The middle column compares the last four weeks with the four weeks before them.
| Keyword (Korean) | Last 4 weeks vs. 4 before | Now vs. July | One-line reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hand cream (핸드크림) | +22% | about 2.6x | Cold snaps, plus an early-September jump I can’t fully explain |
| Lip balm (립밤) | +26% | about 2.5x | Peaked the week Korea issued a record-early cold wave advisory |
| Body lotion (바디로션) | +31% | about 2.0x | Dry-air season, and a very large keyword |
| Panthenol (판테놀) | +45% | about 1.8x | Still high, but it peaked on October 5 |
| Ceramide (세라마이드) | +15% | about 2.3x | Peaked in late September and is easing |
| Sunscreen (선크림) | -26% | about 0.5x | Summer is over |
| Niacinamide (나이아신아마이드) | -22% | about 0.7x | A slow slide, no clear reason |

Hand cream: the biggest climber
Hand cream is a big keyword, not a niche one. In Naver’s beauty category, its clicks run about 5.4 times the level of “serum”, which I use as my yardstick. So a rise here is not a few busy days on a tiny term.
The shape matters too. Clicks crept up through July and August. Then they jumped in the week of September 7, to about 2.7 times July, and stayed there the next week. They fell back in the week of September 21, then returned to 2.4 to 2.8 times July through October 19. That is a real climb, not a rebound from a dip.
In Korea, hand creams are mostly small tubes. The body-care best-seller page at Olive Young currently lists scented hand creams in 30 ml and 50 ml tubes, each with several scents or types to choose from. I only used that page as a signal, so I won’t rank or copy it here.
If you shop for Korean hand cream from abroad, a few small habits help. Search the Korean word 핸드크림, because English listings are thin. Check the size, since the tubes are small and the price per gram can differ a lot. Also read the full ingredient list (전성분) for fragrance (향료) if you prefer unscented care. If your hands are cracked or painful, ask a dermatologist rather than trying a new cream.
Why this hand cream K-beauty trend started early
The clearest reason is the weather. On October 5, Korea’s weather agency issued its earliest cold wave advisory on record for mountain areas of Gangwon, with temperatures forecast to drop by up to 10°C the next day. All three keywords hit their highest weekly level in that same week, the week of October 5. That is a neat match, though I can’t prove the cold caused it.
The early-September jump is harder. Olive Young’s autumn sale started on August 30 and ran for seven days, according to MTN. But clicks stayed high for a week after the sale ended, so the sale does not explain it cleanly. I couldn’t find a single clear reason for that first jump.
The dip is easier to read. Chuseok ran September 24 to 26, and clicks on all three keywords fell that week. My guess is that shoppers were busy with family and travel. Again, that is a guess.
Lip balm: the sharpest peak
Lip balm moved the most in relative terms. Clicks reached about three times July in the week of October 5. Since then they eased to about 2.2 times, so it is cooling a little faster than hand cream.
I did not spot lip balms in the best-seller lists I opened this week. Tints, glosses and lip pencils fill the makeup tab instead. So I can’t tell you which lip balm formats lead in Korea right now, and I’d rather say that than guess.
For overseas shoppers, the Korean search word is 립밤. Many Korean lip products are tinted or scented, so check the product name and ingredient list before you order.
Body lotion: big bottles for dry air
Body lotion is the largest of the three. Its clicks run about 5.6 times the level of “serum”. It rose to about twice July, with the same Chuseok dip and the same peak in early October.
In Korea, the body-care best-seller page leans toward ceramide lotions in 560 ml to 1 L bottles, plus scented body creams and mists. That fits last week’s theme. If you want the background on the ingredient, I wrote a guide to ceramide skincare, and a breakdown of a ceramide barrier cream from Aestura. For a thicker balm for very dry patches, there is also my post on the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Balm B5+.
A practical tip: jumbo bottles are heavy. If you order from abroad, shipping can cost more than the lotion, so compare the total, not just the sticker price.
Last week’s leaders cool off
In last week’s post, ceramide and panthenol were the headline. They are still well above July, at about 2.3 times and 1.8 times. But both have passed their peak. Ceramide topped out in the week of September 28 and has eased since. Panthenol peaked on October 5.
So the pattern looks like this. Face barrier words rose first. Then hands, lips and body followed as the air got colder. I would call ceramide and panthenol a high plateau now, not a rising trend.
What is fading: sunscreen and niacinamide
Sunscreen clicks are about half of July, and sun serum is at about 0.5 times too. Sun sticks sit near a quarter of July. That is no surprise for late October. Still, the suncare tab on Olive Young’s best-seller page was busy this week, with many mineral sunscreens and sun serums. So I would read the Naver drop as less interest, not as people stopping.
Niacinamide is a different case. Clicks slid to about 0.7 times July and fell 22% against the previous four weeks. It is a large, steady keyword, so a slow drop stands out. I couldn’t find a single clear reason.
What I’ll watch next week
- Whether hand cream, lip balm and body lotion jump again. Korea had another sharp cold snap on October 22, with morning lows dropping about 10°C, according to SBS News. That falls in next week’s data.
- Whether lip balm keeps cooling or recovers after the second cold snap.
- Peptides. They show up across Olive Young’s best sellers this week, yet Naver clicks for “peptide” fell every week for the last four. If you want a closer look at one product, see my post on a Medicube peptide cream.
The short version
Korea is reaching for winter basics early: Naver clicks for hand cream are about 2.6x July, lip balm 2.5x and body lotion 2.0x, with all three peaking in the week Korea issued a record-early cold wave advisory. Ceramide and panthenol are cooling from last week’s highs, and sunscreen is at about half its July level.
